Golda Meir/Kent Jewish Center

 About Us

The Golda Meir/Kent Jewish Center is a part of your extended family, your home away from home – providing a full range of programs and services for all ages and stages in life. We offer  an inspiring camp experience, exceptional senior programs, intellectually stimulating arts and cultural events, an exhilarating aquatic and athletic fitness line up, and quality family and youth programming. The Center is where individuals gather together to meet, play, learn, celebrate, and be part of the Community.

While the Center is designed primarily to fulfill the needs of the Jewish community and to preserve and enhance the culture, traditions, ethics, and philosophy of Judaism, membership and participation in activities of the Center and Camp are open to all regardless of religious affiliation; we serve people of all ages, faiths and cultural backgrounds, race, color or creed. The Center welcomes all.

Membership dues and fees, individual and corporate and donations, planned giving and the Pinellas & Pasco Counties Jewish Federation, support the Center programs and services.

The cultivation and training of lay leadership to ensure positive implementation of the strategic operating plan.
The development and empowerment of our professional staff to make the decisions necessary to deliver on the strategic plan.
The continued development of affordable and creative programming and services.

 Our History & Future

It began as a vision, the concept of a Senior Center where “When You’re Here, You’re Never Old.”  The original Golda Meir Center located on Jupiter Street in central Clearwater was fashioned by the vision of Charles Rutenberg and his family and other prominent families in Pinellas & Pasco Counties.

Through the generosity of a donation of land to the Jewish Federation of Pinellas & Pasco Counties by Mr. Marshall and Mrs. Reva Kent, the site for a Jewish Community Center was established.

The Marshall and Reva Kent Jewish Community Center was conceived from the idea of having a North County presence similar to that which existed in South County to provide social and cultural family activities and a summer camp.  The Center became a beneficiary agency of the Jewish Federation of Pinellas & Pasco Counties.

In 1995, to further strengthen the presence of the Jewish people of Pinellas & Pasco Counties, the Gold Meir Center and the The Marshall and Reva Kent Jewish Community Center merged and became the Golda Meir/Kent Jewish Center.  Today, the Golda Meir/Kent Jewish Center is an intergenerational Jewish Center where people of all ages and stages of life can come together.

So many people have helped to keep the Golda Meir/Kent Jewish Center thriving financially.

In 2008 as we plan to move on to the next stage of our development in cooperation with Menorah Manor, each generation must continue to  undertake the responsibility for the next generation to provide a Center where future generations can come together  to celebrate their Judaism.
